Mahindra BE 6e – Mahindra has unveiled its highly anticipated electric coupe-SUV, the BE 6e, with an introductory price of ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The BE 6e, along with the XEV 9e, marks a significant milestone in Mahindra’s journey towards sustainable mobility under its newly constituted electric-only sub-brand, Born Electric (BE).
The BE 6e has captured attention with its cutting-edge design, advanced technology, and impressive specifications. Powered by Mahindra’s modular INGLO platform, the SUV promises performance, efficiency, and luxury in an eco-friendly package.
Design and Dimensions :-
The BE 6e stays true to its concept version, sporting sharp, edgy styling. Notable features include:
•C-shaped LED DRLs, illuminated logos, and a sleek dual-tone finish with gloss black cladding.
•Split spoilers, wraparound tail lamps, and a sporty diffuser-like rear bumper.
•Functional design elements such as air ducts for better aerodynamics.
Measuring 4,371mm in length, 1,907mm in width, and 1,627mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm, the SUV rides on 19-inch or optional 20-inch aero-optimized wheels. Its 207mm ground clearance and a turning radius of under 10 meters ensure practical usability.
Interior and Features :-
The BE 6e’s cabin blends futuristic aesthetics with state-of-the-art technology :
•Dual 12.3-inch screens powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 processor, running the new MAIA software with 30+ pre-installed apps.
•Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD), customizable themes by AR Rahman, and a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
•Comfort and luxury with dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS features like 360-degree cameras and auto park assist.
A standout feature is the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) setup, allowing users to stream content using personal devices. The floating center console and aircraft-style roof controls enhance its cockpit-inspired design.
Battery, Range, and Performance :-
Mahindra offers two battery options – 59kWh and 79kWh, both using advanced LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry. Key performance metrics include:
•ARAI-certified range: 535km (59kWh) and 682km (79kWh).
•Power output: 228hp (59kWh) and 281hp (79kWh), with a torque of 380Nm.
•Acceleration: 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds (79kWh variant).
Charging capabilities include:
•20-80% in just 20 minutes via a 175kW DC fast charger.
•Standard 11.2kW or 7.3kW AC chargers (to be purchased separately).
Availability and Future Plans :-
Deliveries for the BE 6e will begin in February or March 2025, with more trims and prices to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025. An AWD variant could be added later.
