Delhi Key Development Projects : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Delhi on January 3, 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several landmark development projects. These initiatives aim to enhance urban living standards, promote sustainable development, and provide affordable housing under the government’s commitment to ‘Housing for All.’
Inauguration of 1,675 Flats for Economically Weaker Section
At around 12:10 PM, PM Modi will visit the newly constructed Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar. These flats are part of the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to provide dignified housing to dwellers of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters.
The Prime Minister will hand over keys to eligible beneficiaries, marking the second successful completion of such a project in Delhi. These flats offer a modern living environment with essential amenities. The project demonstrates an innovative funding model, where beneficiaries pay a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance, while the government bears the majority of the construction cost, estimated at Rs 25 lakh per flat.
Urban Redevelopment Projects: World Trade Centre and GPRA Quarters
PM Modi will also inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects:
- World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar: Replacing over 600 dilapidated quarters, this project offers 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space. The WTC integrates eco-friendly practices, including solar energy generation, rainwater harvesting, and a zero-discharge concept.
- GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar: This project comprises 28 towers with over 2,500 residential units, designed with eco-conscious features such as sewage and water treatment plants, rainwater harvesting systems, and solar-powered waste compactors.
CBSE Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the CBSE Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, built at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. The facility includes an advanced data center, offices, an auditorium, and a comprehensive water management system. Designed to meet Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum standards, the eco-friendly structure promotes sustainability.
Foundation Stone of Veer Savarkar College and Other Projects
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for three new projects under Delhi University, collectively worth over Rs 600 crore. These include:
- An academic block in the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi
- An academic block in the Western Campus at Dwarka
- Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh, featuring state-of-the-art educational facilities.
